About Me

I started working in the banking world not too long ago, in August 2010 at Bank of Montreal out in University of British Columbia. I had got in to the banking world because of one of my friends had referred me and getting a call from a bank’s branch manager for an interview was very exciting news. Part of my excitement was because I finally had a job that related to my education.
My previous jobs included, newspaper man, working in a fish factory lifting heavy trays full of fish and working from a kiosk at different malls getting customers to sign up for credit card. Yes I was that annoying guy in the mall trying to approach everyone.  However, now when I think about that job, it was a great experience for me because I was much of a talker. This job got me taking with everyone and it gave me huge confidence in talking with people or conveying them or persuading them.

This was one of the main reason I got in to the bank because I had sales experience. I work at Bank of Montreal for about three and a half years. I started off as a teller and was horrible at cash. The only way to not get fired from my now job was to do the sales, which I blew out of the water. Not because I was a pushy sales person, but because I tried to explain benefits to the clients and had great conversations with my clients. I already had my mutual funds license, so started applying for account manager position after a year. After couple of months I got promoted as an account manager (financial services manager FSM). Now I had my own office. It felt as if I was on top of the world. It was a learning curve all my time at the bank.

So, after three and a half years I decided to make a change and see what a credit union had to offer. Currently, I am working as a Mutual Fund Representative at a credit union. Since the time I left BMO, I had got excellent at explain complex banking information, products and services to clients. I noticed this when I started getting compliments from clients on how easily they understood the concepts. The main reason was the creative diagrams, simple wording and comparison I drew for them.   I always like to present information in a very transparent and clear way, while keeping in mind that I am the expert not the person sitting next to me. I have always loved sharing information with my clients and making them more knowledgeable. Thus, the idea struck me, why not write my own book with my expertise.
